My family has been life-long horse enthusiasts. In 1999 we undertook the restoration of Destruction Brook Farm located in South Dartmouth, MA. It is one of the few Antebellum homes in the north and is located on a site that has been an active farm since the 1700s. I like to tell people that before we completed our restorations the property looked like the home in “Gone With The Wind” after the war. We are surrounded by 320 acres of conservation land with miles of horse trails. The Main barn is attached to the tack room and five-bedroom barn house. It is also connected to most of the 15 horse stalls with by an internal walkway. Needless to say our lives revolve around our horses, our donkey Ellie May, our dogs and family.
As horse owners, we became acutely aware of the shortage of quality shavings. From one week to another the shavings quality, quantity and price varied. Out of own frustration we explored various alternatives to find and purchase quality affordable shavings. We were not satisfied with our options. Incredibly, we decided to enter the shavings business, ultimately buying our own state of the art shavings mill in Bamberg South Carolina. Our mill is capable of producing up to 3 million bags of shavings annually. We produce year round unlike many northern and Canadian mills assuring a year round supply and consistent price. As horse owners, and shaving users, we designed our shavings to be of the highest quality, virtually dust free and at an affordable price.
Our shavings are now being used by many of the most prestigious horse shows in the country such as; The Cleveland Show, The Hampton Classic, the Fidelity Jumper Classic, Hits horse shows in Saugerties NY, Culpeper, VA and Ocala, Fl and through our retail partner Dever we deliver to the Kentucky Horse Park and through Gold Coast Feed and Supply, our retail partner for West Palm Beach Fl, the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL just to name a few.
